The Artist

Ting Yang is a visual artist using cyanotype, photography, and mixed media processes on paper, textiles, and stone. Her work seamlessly blends the art of flower arrangement with the ethereal beauty of photography, creating compositions that honor both nature and heritage.
With a deep appreciation for nature and its delicate forms, Yang embarked on her artistic journey as a nature photographer. Her fascination with flowers led her to explore the intricate worlds of Chinese traditional flower arrangement and Japanese Ikebana ("Ikenobo") starting her studies in 2016.
Since 2020, Yang has developed a unique photo-based creative process, exclusively using the heritage technique of cyanotype, where the meticulous precision of floral design meets the timeless, evocative nature of cyanotype photography.
The impact of immigration has profoundly shaped Yang's artistic vision, leading her to explore intricate connections between nature, memory, and nostalgia—particularly the landscapes of her homeland. Through delicate botanical compositions in striking blue tones, she captures fleeting moments of beauty and emotion.
As a nature lover, she has long been captivated by the color blue for its peaceful and healing properties. Yang expresses this fascination through cyanotype, blending natural elements with a serene hue and historic process. Each piece reflects a story of love, harmony, patience, strength, and resilience, bringing the beauty and inspiration of nature into everyday life.
