In this cyanotype, different kinds of maple leaves come together—Canadian and Japanese, big and small, intact and imperfect. Yet, they all contribute to the beauty of the piece. Starting with real botanicals that I have harvested, dried, and pressed throughout the seasons; the original cyanotype is hand-made using sunlight, photographic chemicals, and developed in a water bath.

Giclée requires the same level of visual attention, however it takes place in the digital world. Cyanotype originals are digitally captured, design-adjusted, composed, and printed on select papers with specialized inks; producing an archival work which communicates all the subtleties of an original and that will also stand the test of time.

About Cyanotype
