Nostalgic Tides of Toronto
Nostalgic Tides of Toronto
This cyanotype captures Toronto’s vibrant skyline, framed by maple leaves, cedars, ginkgo, and grass—each botanical rich with nostalgic meaning. Maple leaves evoke autumn memories, while the sturdy cedars symbolize strength and continuity in our lives. Grass speaks to childhood play and outdoor adventures, connecting us to the city’s lively spirit in the 90s. Together, these elements create a sensory tapestry, celebrating the warmth and energy of that magical decade in Toronto.
Starting with real botanicals that I have harvested, dried, and pressed throughout the seasons; the original cyanotype is hand-made using sunlight, photographic chemicals, and developed in a water bath.

About Cyanotype
About Cyanotype
The cyanotype is a photographic process that produces a Prussian blue monochrome print. Developed in 1842, this technique utilizes a photosensitive solution that reacts to sunlight exposure. Plants act as UV shields, leaving their impressions on the paper.
Each cyanotype print is unique, as variations in weather conditions or the distribution of the photosensitive solution can affect the shades of blue and imperfections, adding to the charm of this artisanal printing technique.
