Spring seems to be arriving late this year. I gathered the spider plant from my friend’s greenhouse garden in March. Every year, before winter arrives, she moves all her plants indoors and cares for them throughout the season, year after year. The moment I saw this plant, the words 'soft & strong' immediately came to mind.
"I am a woman, both soft and strong. I am stubborn and wild. I am tender and compassionate. I am all things bold, but also gentle. I am both loud and quiet, light and dark. I love wildly, but not naively. I care passionately, but always purposely. I am soft, but also strong."

About Cyanotype:
The cyanotype is a photographic process that produces a Prussian blue monochrome print. Developed in 1842, this technique utilizes a photosensitive solution that reacts to sunlight exposure. Plants act as UV shields, leaving their impressions on the paper.
Each cyanotype print is unique, as variations in weather conditions or the distribution of the photosensitive solution can affect the shades of blue and imperfections, adding to the charm of this artisanal printing technique.

- This giclée print is a reproduction of the original cyanotype. Starting with real botanicals that I have harvested, dried, and pressed throughout the seasons; the original cyanotype is hand-made using sunlight, photographic chemicals, and developed in a water bath. Giclée requires the same level of visual attention, however it takes place in the digital world. Cyanotype originals are digitally captured, design-adjusted, composed, and printed on select papers with specialized inks; producing an archival work which communicates all the subtleties of an original and that will also stand the test of time.
